State of the University Address
|
Attend President Cowley’s State of the University Address Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. in Texas Hall. Together, we will celebrate a year of accomplishments and prepare for the academic year ahead. Those who can’t join in person can watch the event live online.

Increased federally funded research expenditures
|
In 2023, federally sponsored research at UTA accounted for $77 million in expenditures, with about $40.7 million spent on research-related goods and services in Texas. That more than doubles the total for 2022, when federally sponsored research at UTA contributed $38 million to the economy.

| Maverick pride at MavsMeet Convocation

Students, faculty, and staff gathered at College Park Center to ring in a new academic year at UTA with MavsMeet Convocation. The lively crowd heard from UTA leadership and watched spirit groups perform.

New benefits, benefits plan designs, and benefits premium changes take effect on Sunday, Sept. 1. If you have questions about any changes, visit the benefits annual enrollment website.

Saturday, Aug. 31, is the last day to incur UT Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) qualifying expenses for active employees for the 2024-25 plan year. Saturday, Nov. 30, is the UT Flex Health Care and Dependent Day Care claim filing deadline for the 2024-25 plan year.

UTA Libraries to extend hours during finals week
|
UTA Libraries will offer extended hours Dec. 2-11 to accommodate students during finals week. Library hours during that period are listed below.
- Dec. 2, 7 a.m.-4 a.m.
- Dec. 3, 7 a.m. begins 24-hour service
- Dec. 4-10, open 24 hours

Dec. 11, end 24-hour service at 11 p.m.
UTA Libraries is analyzing research consultation and instruction sessions from previous fall semesters to plan enhanced support for students. Details about additional research support are coming soon.

At just 30 years old, UTA graduate Kameron Raburn ('17 BS, Civil Engineering) was elected mayor of Ennis, Texas, a city of about 24,000 people. Raburn shared that his time at UTA, where he spent hours studying in the Science and Engineering Library at Nedderman Hall, making friends, and honing his leadership skills, gave him the tools to make critical decisions in his role at city hall.

Join UTA Volunteers on Saturday, Sept. 7, in kicking off the fall semester with Super Service Saturday. UTA Volunteers are excited to give back to the local community and invite faculty, students, and staff to serve together in the local Arlington area. Registration closes tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 23.

The Women’s Faculty and Staff Network will hold a fall welcome back event on Monday, Aug. 26, from 4-6 p.m. at the University Club in the University Administration Building. | For the first time since fall of 2018, the UTA golf team will kick off the new school year with its very own Maverick Classic beginning Friday, Sept. 16, at Tierra Verde Golf Course in Arlington.
