Happening All Week

Former international students will return to USF to share their personal stories of success in finding jobs in the U.S.! This is a great opportunity to network with international alumni and get information from those who are currently working in the U.S. This workshop is from 5:30–7 p.m. and is designed for currently enrolled international students who are planning to pursue a job in the U.S. either during or after their program.

A reception will follow from 7–8:30 p.m. All international alumni and currently enrolled international students are invited. The reception is designed for you to connect with alumni and other USF students, as well as network and explore job opportunities. Registration is required for both events.

Our panelists, Jane Bleasdale, Maria Rita Atienza, Monisha Bajaj, and Noah Borrero, will share their experiences, insights, and contributions to international education, as well as their involvement with the USF School of Education. Join us for a thought-provoking conversation that transcends borders and inspires positive change in the field of education.

Nina Buchmann from Stanford University will be presenting her job market paper on what may be a third form of discrimination against women in the labor market, paternalistic discrimination. Her presentation will cover whether protective gender norms (e.g., efforts to protect women from physical injury, reputational damage, or long hours away) cause differential treatment denying women opportunities to gain relevant skills and experiences.
