Christmas Day of Advent: LIGHT

| Light is the fifth of the Advent and Christmas features which reflect on the NMI Identity Statement and NMI’s Five Areas of Impact.
NMI is the global missions advocate in every local church, nurturing a spirit of missions, and mobilizing into action, impacting people around the world.
|
|
|
What does it mean to ‘impact people around the world’? Well, it means we do our part, both in and beyond our limited context: to give, to send, and to go into the world. With every gift we give, in every endeavor, Light continues to pierce the darkness. Lives are changed, societies are transformed. We join with the angels of Christmas, singing: “Christ, the Savior is born!”

Advent climaxes with a long-awaited dawn, the coming of the Son, a babe. His birth is often depicted by a Nativity scene from which emanates Light from a lowly manger. On this night, Light pierced the darkness, and the Eternal took up residence among us. We who have been filled with that eternal light cannot keep it to ourselves. Everywhere we go, in everything we do, his light in us and working through us should make a difference.

NMI Priority: Giving to World Evangelism Fund (WEF), a reflection of gratitude for and faithful stewardship of all that Christ has given to us, makes such a difference in the world. Missions continues to bring about transformation in the lives of people. And through WEF giving, we extend the LIGHT of Christ into every dark place where people are straining to see a glimmer of HOPE; to find PEACE in the midst of conflict; to know the JOY of sins forgiven; and to experience the LOVE that graciously changes us, because we participate in God’s mission in our broken world.

He is here! Happy birthday, Jesus, and Merry Christmas! He came down from heaven and entered this very different world. He is the Light in the darkness. We are called to be like him. God calls missionaries to go and shine his light in dark places in this world. How are you being a light in the place God has you? - Pray for the Church around the world to embrace Christ’s call to join him in mission, whether by praying, giving, or going.
- Pray for Nazarene missionaries and others who share Christ, the Light of the World, with those who have not yet encountered him.
|
| - Praise God for Nazarenes around the world who have given to the World Evangelism Fund to spread the light of the gospel.
- Praise the Lord for every opportunity to point others to him, and pause and give thanks for the one who pointed you to him.
|
|
