UT L&D AI PANEL DISCUSSION (EVENT)
| |
May 1, 2024 Noon- 1 p.m. Virtual
The University of Texas Learning & Development Office invites you to join us for this university-wide event to discuss what AI is and how it might play a role in the workplace. This will be an accessible conversation about this complex topic.
In this moderated discussion, we will allow time and space for attendees to ask questions to the panelists who are currently contributing through different roles to The Year of AI at UT. Our goal is to make this event a place where you can be brave enough to ask questions you may have had about AI for some time, and get answers that are equally honest, non-judgmental, and easy for anyone to understand.

pThe Machine Learning Research Group: Our rockstar researchers, led by Professor Raymond Mooney, have been unraveling AI mysteries for over three decades. Their current focus? Natural language learning. Imagine chatbots that converse like Shakespeare or algorithms that predict student success. 🤖📚
Machine Learning Laboratory: Creating technology that drives systems for artificial intelligence, enabling them to acquire knowledge, learn from real-world experience, and make predictions in complex environments.
Center for Generative AI: With a core focus on biosciences, health care, computer vision and Natural Language Processing (NLP), the new center is a collaborative effort across industries and disciplines throughout UT.
Good Systems Initiative: We’re not just building AI; we’re building ethical AI. Good Systems seeks to understand AI’s impact, predict its ripples, and mitigate unintended consequences. Because responsible innovation is our mantra. 🌟
The Artificial Intelligence Lab: Established in 1983 (yes, before the internet was cool), this lab is our AI mothership. Woody Bledsoe and Bob Simmons laid the groundwork, and now we’ve got seven faculty members, 50 Ph.D. students, and a galaxy of affiliated faculty. They’re the Jedi Masters of AI. 🌐🔍
