OSRL Chaplain Intern Spotlight: Candler Contextual Education Partnership
The Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) offers a year-long Contextual Education internship for a second-year Candler School of Theology student who is interested in Christian chaplaincy in higher education. Mentored by OSRL's Christian Chaplain, the intern has the opportunity to learn and serve through various programs of the office, especially Beloved Community worship on Sundays at 11 a.m. in Cannon Chapel.
This year, OSRL is delighted to have Kamilah Jones serving as our chaplain intern. In this role, Kamilah assists with the planning of Beloved Community worship with OSRL's Christian Chaplain The Rev. Maddie Henderson, Music Director Mr. Maury Allums, and the student leadership team each week.
On Sunday, November 13, Kamilah preached at the Beloved Community service. Her sermon was entitled “God Is Calling Us," and the scripture readings were 2 Thessalonians 3: 6-13 and Psalm 98. The service can be viewed on Youtube.

Voices of Inner Strength Gospel Choir Fall Concert Recap

On Saturday, November 12, the Voices of Inner Strength (VOIS) Gospel Choir held its annual Fall Concert. The night was filled with worship, laughter, and community. It was wonderful to see over 150 people in attendance and enjoying the experience.

Shabutsu Communal Buddhist Art Workshop: Mindful Creativity and Relaxation
Friday, December 2, 1:00-4:00 p.m., Tate Room, Carlos Museum
Join Dr. Cheryl Crowley and the Buddhist community in this collaborative Buddhist art workshop to explore and engage in a traditional Japanese Buddhist practice called Shabutsu (meditative creation of Buddhist images). In this workshop, participants will each create individual pieces which will finally contribute to a single large piece in the form of a mandala.
Light refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to come and go as you like, there is no experience or ability necessary. Materials and instruction will be provided. Register here.

Interfaith America: Who's Telling Muslim Americans Stories? Meet Kashif Shaikh.
In this week’s episode of “Interfaith America with Eboo Patel,” Kashif Shaikh talks with Eboo about supporting diverse Muslim American stories, calling the act his love letter to the community.
Shaikh is the co-founder of the Pillars Fund, a Chicago-based philanthropic institution financed by Muslim business leaders to support Muslim civic organizations, research and art. Shaikh currently serves on the board of directors of the Peabody Awards (East Coast division), Chicago Humanities Festival, Donors of Color Network, and Mortar, and has written for The New York Times, Vice, NPR, and Variety.
