None of the 2024 cookie season could have been possible without every one of you. As we close another chapter on the Cookie Program, we celebrate our Troop and Service Unit Cookie Volunteers for all the energy, effort, time, and skills you poured into this season. It was once said, “If you can’t change the world with cookies, how can you change the world?” Watch the girls light up when they receive their rewards, hear the stories after they return from that outing funded by their proceeds, or see the joy when they deliver those cookie donations. All that is happening - it is all because of you, our River Valleys Cookie Volunteers!
We’ll be sure to share the final sales results with you as we continue to finalize the numbers over the next few weeks. Plus, watch for the annual cookie survey in a future issue of The Cookie Press. After this week, The Cookie Press will be updated every other Thursday. Watch for the next post on April 18.

The cookies have been transferred, the sales season is officially over, and now only two tasks remain for you: ensuring the troop is set for the final ACH and distributing rewards.
This is the time to ensure all money collected from families has been deposited into the troop bank account. If families used mobile payment services (such as Venmo or CashApp) to turn in money, verify the money has been credited to the troop account. Refer to your Troop Balance Summary for the troop financials including the final PGA, the final troop proceed total, and the balance due for cookies for the final ACH on April 26.
If your troop completed our extension form to request additional time to sell your remaining inventory, Digital Cookie is available through April 30 to process credit card payments for cookies-in-hand orders.
If your troop receives an NSF check or incurs bank fees due to high deposit activity, complete a Finance/Inventory Issue Form by May 31.
If your troop only participated in online sales and/or is due a refund for troop proceeds earned, Girl Scouts River Valleys will process that refund to the troop bank account via an ACH on April 26. Be sure the troop bank account information has been entered in Smart Cookies.
Juliette’s who are paid in full will show an overpayment in their Troop Balance Summary that equals the troop proceeds.
Keep copies of all deposit tickets and bank receipts until December 31, 2024.

Time to Reflect & Celebrate with your Troop! |
Even though each cookie season is different, some things don’t change, like reflecting on what your Girl Scouts learned and making time to celebrate. Schedule an end of season wrap party with the troop while the cookie season is still fresh in their minds. Talk about numbers that mean something to them: sales numbers, the troop PGA, and the proceeds earned. Which of the Five Essential Skills from the cookie program did they use? Celebrate those who adjusted and then reached their goals, and all the challenges they overcame. Inquire about HOW they overcame challenges, and what went well this year. Reflect on what they may want to do differently next year. Encourage them to also make time to thank everyone in their cookie crew that helped them succeed.
What do your Girl Scouts want to do with their proceeds? With the weather warming up and summer vacation coming soon, this is a great time to schedule a fun outing to celebrate their accomplishments. Maybe they want to use some of their proceeds to make a difference in their community? Let the troop work together to decide what they want to do. After all, girl-led is the way we roll!

"Smells Like Cookie Spirit" Award Winners |
That’s a wrap! It's time to give a shout-out to the final winners of the Smells Like Cookie Spirit Award!
Michelle Peterson: "Michelle made some beautiful signs to flag down cars for our drive-thru booth and joined in with some creative cookie songs that she and her daughter made up together! It really got customers excited. One customer even said he didn't usually stop for cookies but just loved the song! She also always goes above and beyond to donate things to our troop for booths like some beautiful bags for customers with large orders. Her girls are so into the cookie spirit and have proudly worn the cookie extras like cookie hair bows and earrings. She is always very positive and willing to help with anything the troop needs during cookie booths and throughout the season. We are so lucky to have her!"
Kelsey Graf: "This is our first year as a daisy troop and Kelsey's first year as a cookie manager. She was so wonderful! Kelsey was very organized with cross referencing digital cookie and her own personal spreadsheets. Kelsey helped us organize four successful cookie booths and kept every family up to date with their sales and transfers. Kelsey also got three new families get started with selling just days before cookie season began! Kelsey thinks strategically and took notes throughout our first cookie season so that each year becomes smoother and more successful. Kelsey mastered her first year, therefore, I have no doubt that she will continue to be an amazing cookie manager! We are so grateful and lucky to have her as a part of our troop! We thank you Kelsey!"
Winners of the "Smells Like Cookie Spirit" award will receive a prize pack of Girl Scout cookie scented body care products from Native and a big hi-five from the Product Program Team! Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who took part in this year’s awards!
