Making the Most Out of Transition: A Brief for Families
|

For high school students with disabilities, “transition” refers to the period when the school and academic program shifts to a focus on preparing for what comes after high school. The prospect of transitioning from school to the community should be exciting for you and your student. Unfortunately for families, the transition process can feel rigid and impersonal. Oftentimes, the focus is primarily on meeting the school's compliance obligations and less on identifying and growing a student’s skills and interests.
