Grace and Peace Beloved St. Lukers,
It’s hard to believe that the summer is over. But all evidence, especially school calendars, back to school sales, and school parking lots filling, seems to point to the fact that while it’s still seasonally summer, summer is over, and that means that this Sunday is back to school Sunday! This Sunday we will be celebrating and blessing students of all ages, pre-k through graduate school. We will be celebrating and blessing everyone who makes school happen: teachers, administrators, custodians, and volunteers. And we will be celebrating and blessing all those who love and support students and their education; parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, coaches, and mentors.
At St. Luke’s we support each other as we celebrate and navigate life together in many ways. One way is this recognition and blessing, another way is in the principle of being one of five. That every child in our church and community does best in life and faith with at least five adults surrounding and supporting them and being a part of their lives. So, as we look to Sunday and this worship experience that includes the blessing of children and youth as they prepare to go back to school, I wonder how you can be one of five in a youth and child’s life and faith here at St. Luke’s.
One last note: As you know, the COVID-19 numbers are climbing in Florida and Orange County, with record-setting positive tests and hospitalizations this week. That being said, St. Luke’s is postponing our fall ministry kickoff event “There’s No Place Like Home,” originally set for August 14. We look forward to updating you when the event can be rescheduled. Until then, stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you in worship either online or in person.
Blessings,
Pastor Jad
