Around the school lately, there has been a huge debate between our assistant principals about whether or not we should start celebrating Christmas early. Mrs. Northen believes that we should all wait until after Thanksgiving to start the Christmas festivities; however, Coach Hall thinks we should start celebrating Christmas right after Halloween!
“I like to have a season where I focus on thankfulness,” Mrs. Northen said. She says she still loves Christmas, but she thinks that it is much more low stress. “The food is delicious, and the meaning behind it is good.” Mrs. Northen believes that Christmas and Thanksgiving compliment each other really well and that it's good to look into both and really think about what they each mean.
Coach Hall has gotten into the Christmas spirit early, but he is not the only one on the mountain! Mrs. Northen shared that some teachers and students get into the Christmas spirit early as well! On the other side, Coach Hall says, “The Christmas spirit makes people happier. It’s easier to smile, be in a good mood, its fun to celebrate others, and the earlier we start it the better.”
He also believes that there is a good way to balance it. He says, “The best way to balance it is to celebrate Thanksgiving on the day and to celebrate Christmas the rest of the time!” He says you can easily see the Christmas spirit this time of year between teachers and students, with people smiling and being generally happier. “My favorite family Christmas tradition is we always open one present on Christmas Eve, and it is always family matching pajamas.”
