Mustangs <3 Gators

ACCESS Gators day is one of the top favorite CAC events each year. It’s a day focused on being selfless and lifting others up instead of ourselves. ACCESS Gator day is a longtime CAC tradition that goes all the way back to the beginning of Mustang Missions.

“Back when Mustang Missions first began, CAC was approached by the ACCESS School to ask if their track team could use our track a few times to practice for the Special Olympics,” Mr. Tappe explained.

After CAC agreed, a few of the Gator coaches were wondering if any students would be interested in cheering on the Gators at a few practices to help them get used to being in front of a crowd while they competed. That first year, there were about 50 students that participated. It was such a success the next year as well that CAC decided to ask the ACCESS school if we could turn this track event into an annual event and include the entire school. It then caught on and still continues every single year.

“The goal is pure encouragement! We want to shine the light on some students accomplishments and let them know how amazing we think they are,” Mr. Tappe said.

ACCESS Gator day never fails to be one of the most positive and encouraging days of the school year. It helps show the importance of serving others and serving God. It allows our students to give the spotlight to others and be an encouraging light to them.

“I think one of my favorite moments comes just before the actual competition and dance party. It’s when our high school fan clubs take to the field and meet their ACCESS Gator athlete for the first time. I love watching it,” said Mr Tappe.

ACCESS Gator day is filled with so many special moments from the Tunnel of Hype at the very beginning all the way to the closing awards ceremony. Every step of the way, the Gator athletes are uplifted and cheered on by our student fan clubs. It’s such an amazing day where everyone can come together, have fun, and serve the Lord.
