Taking Care of Yourself at the End of the Semester |
As the semester comes to a close, workloads, grading, email, and students' needs can pile up quickly. While caring for students is an essential part of teaching, caring for yourself is just as important and doing things that keep you healthy. Small acts, like taking short breaks, setting boundaries around email, eating regular meals, pausing to breathe, or getting enough sleep, can help reduce burnout and restore focus effectively.
In addition, during the high-demand period, considering identifying what truly needs your attention and managing your time appropriately is important as well! Breaking tasks into smaller steps, prioritizing deadlines, and batching similar tasks (like grading, responding to emails, or providing feedback) can conserve mental energy.

| Celebrating Faculty Work in (Digital) Accessibility |
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Accessing Higher Ground (AHG) Conference, which focused on digital accessibility in higher education institutions. One theme that came through clearly was that meaningful accessibility work happens because of committed faculty who take the time to ensure their courses are inclusive and usable for all students.
Your care, patience, and dedication into accessibility work truly make a difference in supporting student access and success at UM-Dearborn!
For tenure-track and lecturers who have not yet completed the Digital Accessibility Course (DAC), we still have incentive funds available to cover course completion (The first 250 instructional faculty who complete all modules and earn the Canvas Accessibility Pathfinder badge will receive a $200 incentive) and please feel free to enroll by this join link here!
