Applications are now being accepted for students to apply for the student member position for the IUP Council of Trustees. Once approved by the State System Board of Governors, the appointment is anticipated to begin in June 2025.

The application/nomination form is available online, and more information can be found at the IUP Trustees website. Completed applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024.
The student member will serve a term of four years, or for as long as the student is a full-time student at IUP, whichever period is shorter, with a minimum term of two years. The student must be in good academic and student conduct standing. Graduate and undergraduate students are welcome to apply.
The successful candidate will:

be appointed yearly by the chair of the Council of Trustees to serve on committees as appropriate
- serve on the Student Government Association Executive Board as ex-officio
- attend quarterly and special meetings of the Council of Trustees
- participate in Commencement ceremonies and other official functions of the university
- chair the next search committee for the student trustee position

I’m Trying to Prepare for Registration, but Not Sure What to Do. Is Something Happening to Help Me Prepare for Spring Registration? |
There will be a Spring Registration Prep Fair happening on Monday, October 14, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. in Jane Leonard Hall. Come to get your questions answered about registration, holds, the academic restructuring, and more. A Zoom option is also available! This fair will help you prepare for registration and will not replace your advising meeting with your academic advisor.

At noon on Saturday, October 12, the Pre-Veterinary Club will head to Blue Spruce Park to feed the birds! This is a weekend event, and interested students will carpool, departing from the HUB Circle at noon. Birdfeed will be supplied. This event offers an opportunity for us to come together, observe, and learn about the different birds we find.

Trans Tea Time is happy to host guest speaker Frey Heide on October 16 from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. An IUP alum, Heide works for the local Indiana Gazette and is proudly out as non-binary (pronouns they/them). We will have an open discussion about navigating the professional world while openly transgender and the large successes that our students can see upon graduation. The event is sponsored by the IUP Pride Alliance.

Résumé Writing Doesn’t Need to Be Confusing! |
Craft a concise, tailored résumé highlighting relevant skills and experiences. Use clear formatting, bullet points, and keywords to make it easy to read. Quantify where possible, and proofread carefully to ensure accuracy and professionalism.

Members of the Queer community share their journey and insights for National Coming Out Week. Alumna Nina Santiago (she/her) tells her story of intersecting identities and their impact in shaping her life, activism, and advocacy. Special guest Asher O’Briant, “My pronouns are he/he,” is a transgender comedian and advocate for inclusive comedy. Asher lives at the intersection of art and activism. The event is on Monday, October 14, starting at 6:00 p.m. in Leonard Hall, 225.

The President’s Commission on the Status of Women will hold its second annual luncheon on Thursday, October 31, from 11:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. in Sutton Hall’s Blue Room. President Driscoll will provide welcome remarks at noon. The Committee’s cochairs, Lo Hoyer and Ann Sesti, will give an update on the Commission’s ongoing work. This event is a celebration of our diverse community, and all are welcome to attend and stay as long or as short as desired.
The luncheon is free and open to all faculty, staff, and students. Attendees should RSVP by Friday, October 18.
