Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time. The difference is preparation. By participating in these training sessions, you’re equipping yourself with life-saving knowledge and helping to create a culture of safety across the IUP campus.

IUP students attend CPR and AED Training during last year's Student Safety Week.

The following trainings will be held for students during the week of March 2–6 during Common Hour from 11:10 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. All trainings will take place in 📍G-98 Wallwork Hall.
March 2: Hands-Only CPR and AED Training
Hands-only CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training is an essential skill for anyone, as it can save lives during emergencies like cardiac arrest.
March 4: Self Defense and Safety Awareness
A session on self-defense and safety awareness that highlights how to protect yourself, avoid dangerous situations, and what to do if you find yourself in one.
March 6: Narcan and Stop the Bleed Training
The session on Narcan will focus on its importance in combating opioid overdoses. The Stop the Bleed training course teaches individuals how to respond to and stop severe bleeding in emergencies.

Come early to the IUP Basketball Doubleheader in the 📍KCAC on Saturday, February 21, to help us recognize the IUP women’s basketball seniors. The ceremony will take place before tip-off. The women’s game will start at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men’s at 3:30 p.m. Talons Up!

The IUP Women in STEAM student organization invites applications for the first annual Theresa McDevitt Women in STEAM Research Award. This award recognizes an outstanding woman whose research demonstrates excellence, innovation, and impact across the STEAM fields. The application deadline is March 6, so apply today!
Established in honor of Theresa McDevitt, professor emerita of the IUP Libraries, the award reflects a commitment to uplifting women in research and celebrating their contributions. The recipient will be announced during the twenty-first annual Women in STEM Summit, and they will receive a commemorative plaque and a $150 monetary award.

Join the Chinese Language and Culture Club tonight, February 20, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the 📍HUB Susquehanna Room for a celebration of the lunar new year. There will be games and food. All invited!

Dress professionally, bring your résumé, and collect recruiter contact information. Don’t forget to follow up promptly with personalized emails to reinforce connections and express genuine interest in potential opportunities.
The Spring Career Fair is on Wednesday, February 25, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the 📍KCAC. Don’t miss out!

Networking is more than exchanging contacts—it’s about building genuine, lasting relationships that create opportunities. In this session on Monday, February 23, at 6:00 p.m. in the 📍Elkin Hall Great Room, Lou Mobley breaks down the art, skill, and power of networking, showing students how to identify common ground and build authentic connections.
Attendees will learn how to position themselves for collaboration, mentorship, and career opportunities. In many cases, a meaningful conversation can take you further than a résumé or college degree alone. There is an opportunity to win a copy of Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi.
