“Glory” by Common and John Legend is a powerful song that embodies the spirit of resilience and hope in the face of hard times. The song is featured in the movie “Selma,” which chronicles the historic 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights movement, which was led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The lyrics showed the struggles and triumphs of civil rights. “Glory” does not only pay homage to the struggles for justice in the past, but it also serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for social equality and justice. This song received many awards, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song, a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, and a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
