This year's Louisiana Department of Education's Teacher Leader Summit was full of BIG IDEAS! Capital Area STEM Network Center and the LSU Gordon A. Cain Center for STEM Literacy enjoyed meeting and networking with so many educators around the state. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth and joined our presentations. Educators working with children in Pre-K through 3rd grade are invited to register for the Making and Tinkering with STEM workshop presented by the Knock Knock Museum. This one-day workshop on July 22 at the Greenwell Springs Library will engage participants in playful, inquiry-based design challenges that foster learning across developmental domains while encouraging children to think like innovators and problem solvers.

Charting a Course: Neptune Pass

Join the next MissDelta teacher adventure and work alongside university researchers to explore Neptune Pass, one of the rapidly growing canals along the Mississippi River. During this two-day teacher professional development, participants will explore with experts, collect data with researchers, experience classroom activities, and earn a $200 stipend. Green Our Planet, the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of school garden and hydroponics programs, and Fork Farms, an impact-tech company redefining indoor agriculture, have partnered to expand access to hydroponic laboratories and hands-on STEM learning, further igniting curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong connection to science and sustainability. The partnership is providing schools with a pathway to build learning environments where scientific exploration, sustainable thinking, and creativity thrive side by side.

Join the Capital Area STEM Network Center at the Carver Branch Library on June 19 & 20, where expert professionals in instrumentation, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and automotive share hands-on skills and techniques that can help make a difference in your everyday life. BUILD: Building Up Industry Leaders Development

The BUILD program at MCRA provides local youths with practical hands-on experience in woodworking, safety practices, and tool usage. Participants learn various carpentry techniques, including measuring, cutting, assembling, and finishing wood projects. The program emphasizes developing technical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, preparing youth for potential future careers in carpentry and related fields.

NASA Astro Camp® is coming to the Louisiana Art & Science Museum!
From July 8–10, students ages 10–14 (entering grades 5–8) will build rockets and robots, design mission patches, explore “space surgery,” and stargaze in the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium alongside Louisiana Art & Science Museum educators and NASA Solar System Ambassadors.
