SwimRVA Commonwealth Cup

We took 48 13 & older athletes to SwimRVA in Richmond for the Commonwealth Cup Invitational. The meet was a great opportunity for our swimmers to test themselves in a meet that featured very fast swimming, especially for the first week of November! We can count on a great meet atmosphere when we go to Richmond and this meet was no exception. As a team, we finished in 9th place with a 6th place finish from our boys and an 8th place finish from our girls.

NCAC 12&Under Mini Meet

219 YOTA 12&Unders took over UNC’s Koury Natatorium on November 9th for NCAC’s 12&Under Mini Meet. This meet was a great opportunity for our 12&Unders to shine and they certainly did! The day was full of a lot of good racing, new events, first-time IMX scores, and a lot of best times!

MOR Atlantic Meet

31 YOTA athletes attended the MOR Atlantic meet down the road at the Pullen Aquatic Center. Even though YOTA was the smallest of the 3 teams in attendance, the purple people made their presence felt. Multiple new age group champs and capital classic cuts were achieved across the four sessions, leading to a very successful weekend of racing!

YOTA Turkey Classic

337 YOTA athletes swam in our annual Turkey Classic meet at Willis Casey Aquatics Center on the campus of NC State. One of the most exciting meets of the year, there was lots of energy created amongst all of the athletes whether it was achieving new best times, or getting a heat winner rubber duckie! Michael White broke the 11-12 boys 50 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke team records along with many new age group champs and capital classic cuts achieved! Congrats to all of our Turkey Classic athletes!

YOTA X ARENA Capital Classic

The 32nd Annual YOTA x ARENA Capital Classic is almost here! Every year, our team hosts this national level meet and every year it is our opportunity to make an impact on teams from all over the country. We will be hosting 28 teams and 677 athletes for four days of competition next week. This is a BIG undertaking! Our coaches and volunteers have already put in a lot of work to prepare for the weekend. Now we need YOU! Please sign up to volunteer regardless of your swimmer’s participation in the meet. This is a YOTA experience for all!

Additionally, our Parent Advisory Committee will be hosting a YOTA Watch Party at the meet on Saturday night from 4:30 - 7 p.m. in the Atrium near the stands. There will be drinks, spirit gear, and a lot of YOTA camaraderie. This party is open to EVERYONE so come out and support your team!

2025 YMCA Annual Campaign

We are elated to report that the YOTA Swim Team raised over $128,000 for the 2025 Annual Campaign! We crushed our goal once again, and we are so grateful to be able to use these funds to provide significant financial support for our community. The success of this year’s campaign was made possible by the leadership of Katie Womble and Evie Houtz, our Annual Campaign YOTA Chairs, and our many parent Site Liaisons. Thank you to everyone who campaigned, donated, and/or shared the mission of the YMCA with our community. Our world is a better place because of you! Funds are still being brought in, so look forward to next month’s letter for a highlight of all swimmers who raised $500 or more!
