More than 100 undergraduate junior and senior students from three UC San Diego academic schools applied for the first round of Degree Plus. The free program enables students to earn an online, skills-based certificate and gain access to a paid internship. 

The California Department of Health Care Services and UC San Diego Extended Studies partnered to launch ASCEND, a free, 80-hour online education program for registered Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD)/substance use disorder (SUD) counselors.

• The California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) Youth Community Access program awarded a $442,170 grant to the Pre-College Conservation Leadership Program, a partnership with Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
• The English Language Institute, which celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2025, received a 10-year recertification from the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA).

• The Center for Research and Evaluation (CR+E) entered into a two-year agreement with Biocom, California’s life science association, to produce an annual economic impact report on the state’s life sciences industry.

• San Diego Workforce Partnership (SDWP) announced a $4 million investment to expand fire and EMS training across San Diego County, which includes funding for CR+E and their partner, the San Diego and Imperial Counties Center of Excellence, to produce a report on fire and EMS career pathways.
• CR+E received a campus Strategic Convene and Influence Award for Informing Policy and Research for Binational Higher Education, as well as a two-year $150,000 Latino Studies grant to study binational higher education from UC Alianza MX, a UC system-wide program that supports research on Latino and US-Mexico research and collaboration.
