A recent study by UW-Whitewater's Fiscal and Economic Research Center (FERC) revealed the university's incredible impact on Wisconsin. UW-Whitewater and its alumni — more than 38,000 currently working in the state — contribute $1.4 billion to Wisconsin's economy each year.

Faculty members recognized as Teaching Fellows
|
Steven Girard, associate professor of chemistry, and Lauren Zepp, assistant professor of special education, were selected as UW-Whitewater’s 2025-2026 Wisconsin Teaching Fellows.
Dr. Girard teaches courses in general and inorganic chemistry. Undergraduates in his lab research nanostructured thermoelectric materials, sustainable synthesis of inorganic and nanostructured compounds, bioactive glasses/ceramics for biomedical implants, and innovative ways to blow things up.
Dr. Zepp teaches courses on special education, reading and writing interventions, and reading assessment. Her research focuses on teacher education for effective reading instruction and special education teacher preparation, and she is a passionate advocate for literacy as a human right and for disability justice.
