UW-Whitewater sees enrollment increase for fall 2024

Preliminary numbers show a steady growth in enrollment here at UW-Whitewater. According to figures released today by the Universities of Wisconsin, UW-Whitewater is one of eight universities to show enrollment growth.

Fall 2024 Global Experiences Fair

Learn all about opportunities to study abroad this Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fall 2024 Global Experiences Fair in the North Mall between Hyland Hall and the University Center. Stop at our table to learn about exchange and study abroad programs, faculty-led international courses, internships, available scholarships and grants, and more. The rain location is University Center room 259.

REMINDER: Author Peter Felten on campus Wednesday

UW-Whitewater faculty and staff are invited to engage with guest speaker Dr. Peter Felten, author of “Relationship-Rich Education: How Human Connections Drive Success in College,” this Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 1-2 p.m. in the University Center Hamilton Room. No RSVP is required.

Instructional faculty and staff are invited to attend an additional session, “Learning and Relationships In and Beyond Our Courses,” from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in UC room 259. RSVP by today (Monday, Sept. 16) to attend.

Career Services Bingo Night

Join us for Career Services Bingo Night on Wednesday, Sept. 18, beginning at 7 p.m. in the University Center Hamilton Room. This will be a fun evening of career-themed bingo with chances to win some awesome prizes! We'll play three rounds of bingo with a cover-all round for our grand prize. All UW-Whitewater students are welcome to attend.

The UW-Whitewater men's soccer team is set to compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the first time since 2014 with the sport being reintroduced to the league for the 2024 season.

Kudos to Cassidy Laue, a graduate student in communication sciences and disorders, who is the recipient of the 2025 WSHA Foundation Nancy McKinley Scholarship from the Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Association. Cassidy is the only UW-Whitewater student and one of just seven students in the Universities of Wisconsin selected for a scholarship this year.

Kudos to Andy Yu, professor of management, has been appointed as area editor for Sun Yat-Sen Management Review (中山管理評論), a leading open-access journal published by National Sun Yat-Sen University, ranked among Taiwan's top universities. The journal’s Tier-1 status with the National Science and Technology Council in Taiwan highlights its significant standing in the academic communities. This exciting opportunity reflects UW-Whitewater’s steadfast commitment to research excellence and allows it to make impactful contributions to the advancement of knowledge and collaborate with an outstanding international partner. Andrea Ednie, associate dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies and professor of kinesiology, and Lauren Zepp, assistant professor of special education, were quoted in an article by the Cap Times that outlined the steps being taken to improve student and teacher literacy in Wisconsin.

Each year, UW-Whitewater joins other organizations to support the Greater Whitewater Committee and the City of Whitewater for the Discover Whitewater Series, a one-day event that includes a half-marathon and 5K races for people of all abilities and ages. This year’s Discover Whitewater Series is set for Sunday, Sept. 22, starting at Whitewater High School. Read more about getting involved »

Student Success Corner

Winther Counseling Services (WCS) is open to provide individual and group counseling to UW-Whitewater students as well as community members. Our supervised counselors-in-training are available for in-person sessions in Winther Hall room 3004. Please call 262-472-2842 to schedule an intake screening with one of our counselors.

Roberta’s Art Gallery exhibits bring creativity, storytelling to campus

From Aug. 19-Sept. 18, come to Roberta's Art Gallery to view ""Unbreakable Strength: Exploring Indigenous Resistance and Healing Through Textiles.” Agnes Yellow Bear, the exhibitor, is a visiting artist from North Dakota, Kawacatoose First Nation. Don't miss out on this exhibit that showcases Indigenous applique art that celebrates resilience and healing.

Submit an entry for the Elevator Pitch competition

Students are invited to submit entries for the 2024 UW-Whitewater CEO Elevator Pitch Competition, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 5:15 p.m. in Hyland Hall room 2319. All entries are due next Monday, Sept. 23, at noon. Prizes are awarded to the first through sixth place finishers, including tuition dollars for the top three finishers and free CEO memberships for the next three. The winner earns a trip to Tampa to present their pitch. Submit an entry and learn more »
