It may be summer, but we’re busy prepping for fall! Family Weekend (Nov. 1-3) registration opens Aug. 12, and we’re working hard to pull together opportunities for you and your Spartan to explore campus together. (Complete this survey if your family needs a little support to attend and click here if you would like to help another family attend.) We have a Family Meet Up planned for the two main move-in days (Aug. 20 and 21) where you can come meet us as well as lots of other families, have a snack and beverage, and commiserate or celebrate your student’s move to Spartan Nation. We’re also working on some new educational opportunities for you, the families of our Spartans. Tell us what you want to learn by completing this survey!
Programming and events for you sometimes cost money, so we are also doing some fundraising by offering unique merchandise, like fun squirrel calendars with all the high-level academic dates included, available for purchase. Fun fact — students also like these calendars! You may need a bit of comforting after moving your student to campus, so we’re working on a fun care kit, just for you. Watch for info in the July newsletter!
In the meantime, enjoy your summer doing what makes you happy. We’ll be taking the first week of July off as well, so will see you for the next newsletter hitting inboxes July 11.
Take care,
Laurin

University Health and Wellbeing
Whether your Spartan is staying in Michigan or venturing elsewhere, students can still access mental health support — because Spartans should feel their best year-round!
Students can still access Counseling & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) during the summer if they are located in Michigan and are enrolled in at least one credit or were enrolled in spring 2024 and the upcoming fall 2024 semester.
UWill Telemental Health serves as an extension of the care provided through CAPS, providing short-term virtual counseling that is accessible to in-state and out-of-state students. Complete a consultation with CAPS to determine if UWill is a good fit.
Togetherall is a free, online, peer support program that provides self-assessments, courses, and a safe place to connect and share what’s on your mind.

Summer Dining Events
MSU Culinary Services is offering a variety of pop-up events throughout the summer. Outdoor movie nights will be held at Kellogg Hotel on the east patio (weather permitting) for just $10 and include popcorn, candy and a nonalcoholic beverage. Dates and times are available here.
A series of outdoor, specially themed lunch pop-ups are being hosted every two weeks in a variety of campus locations. In May, the first pop-up featured a Riverside Café at the Hannah Administration Building. The next event is a Parfait Bar June 20 at the MSU Union.

The IT Service Desk team is happy to assist in sharing what step may be missing, but there is an easy-to-follow how-to guide with screen shots and step-by-step video aid available here. 90% of the time the access issue is either a missing step or a step made out-of-order. Be sure to use this guide to complete all the steps for successful guest access to SIS and check out this handy webpage for new Spartans. Feel free to contact the MSU IT Service Desk for assistance, as needed. We’re here to help!
