News That Rocks
Vienna House Band Halloween Float Rocking at 8.8 Miles Per Hour!

This November We are Thankfullllll!

We had a BLAST in October with shows, Halloween Festivities and more! Read all about it!

Our Summer Season Shows ROCKED!!!

Two amazing weekends of full on high-level music performances and fun were the order of the day when our Summer Season shows took the stage at Uptown Alley and Hard Rock DC!  We know we say this every time, but we are just blown away by how season after season, our students grow and delight and surprise us with their musicianship and stage presence.  Congrats to those who rocked!

Vienna Halloween Parade

Great Scott!! Our float went Back In Time this year for the Annual Town of Vienna Halloween Parade. House Band fully charged the Flux Capacitor all the way up to 1.21 Gigarocks and traveled the roads of Vienna, playing awesome tunes from the Past, Present, and Future! Thanks as always to all the parents (Amy you rock!!!) that helped us get our flatbed DeLorean off the ground!

Rock 101 & JV Rocked the Pre-Parade Lot!

We were back in full swing this year hosting our Annual Halloween Parade Jam and Watch Party! The crowds were delighted to be entertained by our Rock 101 Band (aka The Savage Candies) who kicked off the party with their debut performance. Then JV House Band took the stage and Rocked the Lot - Like a Hurricane!  JV then joined up with our House Band Float in the Parade to make sure Marty and Doc made it back to 2022! Thanks to everyone who came out to cheer on and support these incredible young musicians!!

Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

Student Spotlight - Meet SOR Guitarist & Keyboardist Paul M!

What is your favorite thing about School of Rock Vienna?
My favorite thing about the School of Rock is being able to make music with my fellow musicians. I love being able to create musical chemistry and learn new things with them. Being able to be yourself with other musicians is the key to formulating meaningful music.
What is one of your favorite things you’ve learned from your time here so far?
My favorite thing I have learned at School of Rock is how to learn a song properly. I always try to learn a song by playing one section at a time. I also use my perfect pitch to learn songs efficiently. I believe that trying to "feel" a song is the most important thing to consider when learning a song.
What advice would you give to all the new SOR student musicians?
N My advice is to be yourself and be your own inspiration. Be the catalyst for your own success. Learn to discover your own feel for a song. Find your own "Zen" and inner peace when performing on stage.
Top 5 Bands/Artists You Love:
1. Boston
2. Stevie Wonder
3. Yes
4. Steely Dan
5. Earth, Wind, and Fire

If you could be in any band or artist (past or present) who would it be and why?
I would play with Steve Wonder because I would love to be able to play Jazz, Soul, and Funk as a Keyboardist in Stevie's band. He is one of my greatest inspirations.

Inclement Weather Close/Open Procedures

It's almost that time of year again, so here's a reminder about our Inclement Weather Policy. We do not follow the county school closures. Frequently they make decisions in the morning based on whether or not the buses can maneuver through the neighborhoods. We make our decision to open/hold in person lessons or groups based on whether or not our staff can safely come to work. Once we have that, we will announce our "Open In Person" or "We're Going Online" status on inclement weather days by 1PM by sending you an email (Pike 13) and posting on our main SOR Vienna Facebook page and in our BAND groups. So be sure to check your inbox and social media prior to heading out. And stay warm out there!
