Undergraduate (UGPCs) and Graduate Peer Coaches (GPCs)  are GWSB peer coaches who are available to support you through your career journey.  They can assist with resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and LinkedIn branding. They also offer great mentorship in industry knowledge, navigating the GWSB clubs and organizations, and much more.

Need Case Prep Help?

Peer-led, drop-in case prep sessions will be held monthly by Consulting360. The first session will be September 25 from 12:00 - 1:30 PM in Duques 150. Stop by!

Careers360 is an application-based professional development program designed for students targeting careers in consulting, finance, or marketing. Through the Fowler Career Center, participants gain hands-on experience, network with alumni, receive 1:1 mentoring, and work on real-world projects. Whether you are an undergraduate or master’s student, these 10-month, non-credit programs offer the targeted industry exposure and interview prep needed to excel in competitive fields.

As the fall semester begins, international students should start career planning early. Your first step is to schedule a conversation with the Fowler Career Center. Together, we can connect your interests, strengths, and academic goals to next steps while helping you understand how internship searches, networking, and work authorization timelines fit together.

This month, choose one action: update your résumé, introduce yourself to one professor or alumnus, attend a career event, or practice explaining your skills and experiences. Small, consistent actions build confidence and create opportunities.

Remember, you do not need to navigate the U.S. job search alone. Career coaches can help you prepare questions for International Student Services, communicate your value to employers, and identify resources without offering immigration advice. Begin before you feel ready. Curiosity, preparation, and steady relationship-building will serve you throughout the semester and beyond in meaningful ways.

As you return to campus, take the opportunity to reconnect with your professional network. Reach out to industry professionals you’ve connected with and share a brief update about your summer experience—what you worked on, what you learned, and how it shaped your career interests.

Thoughtful follow-up helps reignite relationships, strengthen your network, and keep you top of mind when future internships or job opportunities arise. Don’t wait until you need something—invest in your network now by starting meaningful conversations and nurturing connections throughout the year.

Technical analytics and technology interviews often include coding assessments on platforms such as HackerRank, so it is worth practicing with sample problems before your interview.

Beyond technical skills, be prepared to discuss real examples of how transform a business problem into a technical solution. Explain your approach, how you handled data quality issues, why you chose a particular solution, and most importantly, the business impact of your work.

Research the company beforehand so you understand its products, customers, and industry. Tools such as ChatGPT or Claude can help you practice technical and behavioral interview questions using the job description.

Finally, remember that you are interviewing the company as much as they are interviewing you, so come prepared with thoughtful questions.
