Meet Christina Chung: Author of The Layered Edible Garden

On March 20th 2024, meet author Christina Chung at 11:30am at the Shop in the Garden. She will be signing copies of her newly released book The Layered Edible Garden: A Beginner’s Guide to Creating a Productive Food Garden Layer by Layer.

Celeste Snowber

Discover the beauty and inspiration of magnolias through a poetic and performative lens in the Asian Garden with Dr. Celeste Snowber. UBC Botanical Garden is a magical place in early spring, in large part because of its extensive conservation collection of flowering Magnolias. Enjoy a blend of art and ecology in this creative Garden performance. Our unique collection of plants and Celeste’s enthralling interpretation of our majestic botanical beauties are sure to delight!

As Spring approaches, we invite you to witness the beautiful blooming of Magnolias at the garden. We have two exciting events coming up on March 23rd - one is a Magnolia walk with our curators Andy Hill or Douglas Justice, and another is a Magnolia performance with artist Celeste Snowber.

Night Quest

Nature at night is a magical experience. Wander down forest trails decorated with glowing animal lanterns and meet friendly forest creatures who will delight you with nature tales.

Tree Talks & Walks -

Nitobe Memorial Garden

Douglas’ walk will cover many of the dozen or so ornamental cherries planted at UBC’s Nitobe Memorial Garden. This traditional Japanese tea and stroll garden is the perfect setting to see cherry trees in bloom.
