| Men’s cross country, volleyball highlight banner weekend for Warhawk athletics
|
History major Christian Patzka became the first Warhawk men’s cross country runner to win an individual national championship on Saturday, leading UW-Whitewater to fourth place — the highest finish in program history — at the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana. Fellow All-American Gunner Schlender, a physical education major, earned the NCAA Elite 90 award, one of the nation’s top academic honors.

The Warhawk volleyball team claimed the NCAA Whitewater Regional title over the weekend to punch its ticket to the NCAA Championship, which is set for Dec. 4-7 in Salem, Virginia.

| Warhawk soccer student-athletes named all-conference
|
Eight students from the UW-Whitewater men’s and women’s soccer teams earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors for the 2024 season.

Kudos to Shannon Stuart, professor of special education, and Courtney Wilt, assistant professor of special education, who co-authored a chapter on culturally responsive special education that will appear in “Handbook for Educating Students with Disabilities: Implications and Strategies.”
Kudos to Lauren Zepp, assistant professor of special education, who co-authored two recently published works. Her article “Introducing the DEI Committee” was published in the Journal of Case Learning and Exceptional Learners. Zepp also co-authored a review of the literature on foundational reading skills that will appear in the Journal Teacher Education and Special Education. Read more about Lauren Zepp »
