As we find ourselves midway through the semester, it's time to reflect on the hard work and dedication that each of you has put into your studies. Midterms and Spring Break are upon us, and the resilience and dedication you have shown set the tone for success. I want to commend everyone for their perseverance and commitment to academic excellence. I wish each of you luck with your midterms. Reach out to your professors, utilize campus resources like the EAC, and continue to strive for success. We believe in your abilities and are here to support you every step of the way.
Spring Break is a chance to recharge, reflect, and rejuvenate. Whether you're planning a getaway, spending time with loved ones, getting a few more hours in at work or simply taking a moment for self-care, make the most of this break and return with renewed energy for the remainder of the semester.

Celebrating Women’s History Month

As we celebrate the achievements and contributions of women this month, we are proud to honor a few of the young women who are Presidential Scholars. Each week we will highlight a Presidential Scholar who is working to leave an indelible mark on Coppin and society.
Amayah Bell
Presidential Scholar and English major, Amayah Bell is in her third year at Coppin. She is no stranger to commitment and hard work. Amayah maintains a 3.96 GPA and has completed the requirements for the Honors Program.

During her matriculation, Amayah has skillfully taken advantage of every opportunity afforded to her. The young scholar has attended two Association of Writers and Writing Programs Annual Conferences and the 2023 HBCU Career Development marketplace. And putting her English degree to use, she has Interviewed published authors, including CSU alumna Odessa Rose. “And I studied abroad at the University of Stirling in Scotland and presented my completed work to my cohort and graduate faculty,” she said proudly.

Giving back to Coppin is important to Amayah. She volunteers at Coppin events, such as Homecoming, Commencement, Commitment to Excellence, and the 2022 Gubernatorial Candidate Forum. Amayah considers volunteering as a small way of supporting Coppin. Her goal is to one day be able to give financially. “Since Coppin has made my academic and professional journey possible, I would like to give back through this avenue. I’ve already begun doing so by undertaking nonprofit leadership coursework and interning with the Alumni Engagement team.”

When asked what makes the Coppin experience special to her, Amayah said, “…the extracurriculars, supportive faculty and staff, and Eagle Pride. There’s nothing like Eagle Pride. I’ve almost lost my voice cheering at the Step Shows and shouting “AYE COPPIN!” for our Eagles at Homecoming. When the whole arena is cheering our Eagles on, there’s nothing like it!”
