In her new role as Assistant Dean for Health Equity Education, Lourdes Estrada, PhD, is working to integrate and advance health equity education into the medical school curriculum. This assistant dean role was created at the recommendation of the VUMC/VUSM Racial Equity Task Force, which was composed of medical students, staff, and faculty, and released a Racial Equity Plan. In the next two months, Dean Estrada will host a series of Town Halls with students and faculty, to listen to the opportunities to meaningfully enhance health equity education in Curriculum C2.0. We hope that the VMS3 registration week went smoothly! After the rising VMS3 class registers (tonight, Mon, April 10 through Sun, April 16), enrollment will close for everyone. Starting on Wed, April 19 at 12am, all students will be able to add or drop any courses in YES.

Stephanie Moore-Lotridge, PhD

We are excited to announce Dr. Stephanie Moore-Lotridge as the new Integrated Science Course Faculty Lead. In this role, Dr. Moore-Lotridge will collaborate with ISC directors on course innovations and scholarship, and also design and lead faculty development opportunities.

“My long-term career goal is to utilize my roles in research and medical education to support the training of the next generation of physicians and scientists,” she states. “By serving as the ISC Faculty Lead, I will have the opportunity to work with numerous ISC directors, and through supporting their growth and advancement, be able to have a broad-reaching impact on medical trainees.”
Dr. Moore-Lotridge is a translational scientist and a medical educator who has been part of the Vanderbilt community since working on her PhD in Pharmacology; she is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at VUMC and a member of the Translational Orthopaedics Research Group.
