The Village is aware of an enhanced, visible presence of federal immigration enforcement personnel in Skokie and surrounding areas today, October 31.
Federal agencies have not provided the Village or Skokie Police Department with information about their operations, and the Skokie Police Department does not participate in immigration enforcement or investigations in accordance with the Illinois TRUST Act.
The Skokie Village Code affirms the Village's commitment to the rights of all individuals no matter their citizenship or immigration status, which includes restricting access to Village facilities for immigration enforcement or investigation purposes.

This is a highly distressing and uncertain time for many members of our community. You're encouraged to check on your neighbors who may be especially vulnerable or fearful, remain calm, and be aware of your legal rights and available resources. View the Village's Protecting Your Rights page for resources and information.

How to Report Observed Activity
|
In an immigration emergency or to report Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity, call the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) Family Support Hotline at 1-855-HELP-MY-FAMILY (1-855-435-7693).
If you're concerned about the legitimacy of any observed law enforcement activity, contact the Skokie Police Department by dialing 911.

The Skokie Police Department is increasing officers' presence in neighborhoods to support a safe Halloween. The Village is advising residents to use extra caution if trick-or-treating. Wear reflective tape on costumes, carry a flashlight, or wear a glow-in-the-dark bracelet. Drivers in particular are encouraged to drive slow and use extra caution.
If your household doesn't wish to participate in trick-or-treat, turn off your porch light and consider posting signage (PDF). Trick-or-treat hours are 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
