Whew! What a Homecoming Week it was. As we head into Election Day and this week’s First-Generation College Celebration, we take a look at some of the key upcoming events and initiatives, including spring 2025 class registration.

Warhawks, it’s time to register for your spring 2025 classes. Registration takes place Nov. 4-15 — check WINS for your registration date and time.

“Twisters” showtimes in the UC 

Join us for a special screening of “Twisters” this Thursday, Nov. 7, through Saturday, Nov. 9, at Summers Auditorium! Showtimes are Thursday at 9 p.m., Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 7 p.m. (Saturday’s showing includes closed captions). Admission is free with HawkCard or $5 without.

Veterans Week events start Nov. 11 

In recognition of veterans and military service members, UW-Whitewater’s Veterans Service Team has planned several activities Nov. 11-15, including a Veterans Day Ceremony in the Hamilton Room on Monday, Nov. 11.

Rosters set for UW-Whitewater swimming and diving teams 

The UW-Whitewater men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams started the 2024-25 season on Oct. 12. They continue action this Friday, Nov. 8, at the Williams Center against UW-Oshkosh.

Three students from UW-Whitewater were awarded for their participation in the university's Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) 2024 Elevator Pitch Competition.

UW-Whitewater awards more than $2.5 million in scholarships for 2024-25

A total of 1,465 students at UW-Whitewater were recipients of scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year.

Kudos to Jenna Cushing-Leubner, associate professor of curriculum and instruction, who published an article in the International Journal of Educational Research. The article identifies the many ways Hmong-U.S. communities organize to create school programs for maintaining Hmong language and culture and some of the sociopolitical factors that work against these desires. Kudos to Angela Meldonian, executive director of the University Center, who won the Central Regional Mentor Award at the National Association of College Auxiliary Services C3X National Conference in Florida. This award recognizes members who have demonstrated exceptional volunteer work that supports the NACAS mission.
