ITS will be pushing non-optional Windows 11 upgrades to CC owned Windows devices via Group Policy Update over the next several weeks.
This upgrade is being implemented in response to Microsoft's announcement of Windows 10 End of Life (EOL), which is scheduled for October 14. After this date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or support from Microsoft, which could pose risks to system stability and greater campus cybersecurity.
Most applications and settings will remain unchanged, but we recommend backing up any critical data through OneDrive or Teams ahead of the planned upgrade.
Continued tightened cybersecurity is a vital part of keeping CC safe and secure for all constituents of the campus. Glaring vulnerabilities in CC owned software and outdated hardware can cause irreparable damage to community and college operations.
We also understand that some processes and operations require specific hardware and software that do not meet current requirements. For assistance involving devices that are incompatible with Windows 11, please reach out to ITS by submitting a ticket at services.coloradocollege.edu.
