Dear Friends,
Let me begin by offering warm season's greetings to you! We have wrapped up another successful semester on campus with our fifth cohort of fellows. As we look ahead to the coming new year, I’m also taking the opportunity to reflect on this last year and all that we have accomplished in the Inspired Leadership Initiative.

I am grateful for the opportunity to continue shepherding the ILI program alongside our leadership team and the faculty who support the ILI in so many ways. I’m also particularly grateful to accompany our current fellows and stay connected with our alumni who have participated in years past.
I also can’t help but think of the wonderful gathering of ILI alumni we hosted on campus in late October. Nearly 70 ILI Alumni and guests gathered on campus for our first on-campus reunion event. It was wonderful to witness the interactions between alumni from different cohorts, the current cohort, and prospective ILI candidates who were in attendance. In addition to connecting, there was a fantastic lineup of speakers during an academic engagement session and two Inspiring Conversations sessions, which you can learn about below. Following the academic sessions, our ILI alumni had the opportunity to hear updates from the leadership team about future opportunities for engagement and we collectively started brainstorming and imagining the future of ILI alumni interest and impact groups that are forming. Our reunion concluded with a sunny (but chilly) tailgate before we watched the Irish football team defeat Pittsburgh. It was the perfect end to a whirlwind of a few days, and it was an affirming celebration of all that we have accomplished and the people who have been a part of this program over the last five cohorts.
I hope this time of year offers you many opportunities to spend time with those you love, and that it will also be a time for rest, relaxation, and reflection on the past year as you prepare for the start of a new year!

ILI Featured in The Atlantic |
In August, author David Brooks wrote a piece which explored aspects of Notre Dame's ILI program, along with other similar programs across the country. How do participants best utilize the academic, social, and personal resources available during the program? And how might they share what they've gained so all can transition to their 'Encore Years' living in a fulfilling, giving, and purposeful way? You can read the article below.

Reimagining Fulfillment
During Midlife and Beyond
with Bernie Borges, host of the Midlife Fulfilled Podcast
|
We were joined by guest speaker, Bernie Borges, host of the Midlife Fulfilled Podcast, for this in person event. Bernie has made it his mission to help others find fulfillment in what he refers to as various "seasons of midlife." In this session, we flipped the script on Bernie, who normally serves as the interviewer, and heard more about his path to creating the Midlife Fulfilled Podcast, how he defines "fulfillment", and what he's learned from talking to over a hundred podcast guests about their personal journeys to finding "fulfillment".

| Bringing Purpose to Life
Featuring guest panelists: Conal Fagan (ND’21), Waleed Johnson (ND ‘15), and Renee Yaseen (ND ‘22)
|
During this session, we heard from three recent Notre Dame graduates about how they have made the conscious decision to move toward purpose, not just from a place of a career mindset, but in their life overall. This session is an opportunity to learn from individuals of different generations about their search and pursuit of bringing purpose to life with intention, despite societal pressures and expectations, and how they have pursued their passions, even when those passions don’t align with their career.
