Greetings from the University Staff Advisory Council!

November Meeting Highlights

  • USAC was joined by Anders Nelson, Head Coach of the newly revived Vanderbilt Volleyball team. Coach Nelson described the program's mission, pillars, and the work he and the rest of the Volleyball staff are undertaking to build a program from scratch. The first recruiting class signed with the team last week and will begin competing on August 29, 2025. Towards the end of his presentation, Coach Nelson discussed ways that the Vanderbilt community can engage with the volleyball program in advance of that date.

  • Kathleen Seabolt, Executive Director of the Vanderbilt Child and Family Center, gave an overview of the Center's work and offerings. Notably, the Acorn School has managed for three consecutive years to offer August enrollment to every waitlisted family. Kathleen also provided an in-depth look at the Owls Developmental Program - a Kindergarten curriculum that prioritizes creativity and exploration.

 Employee Critical Support Fund

The Employee Critical Support fund provides assistance to qualifying faculty and staff who are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event. This is a valuable offering that provides employees peace of mind during times of uncertainty and demonstrates the power and values of the Vanderbilt community.
Employees are encouraged to contribute to the fund in whatever ways you can through direct one-time gifts, through payroll deduction, or through
the Kroger Community Rewards Program.
Thanks to generous donors, more than $1,200 was raised for this important fund through the Fall Incentive Campaign.
