Dear Faith Family,
We have been agonizing over information regarding the current increase of Covid related issues in the community. We were blindsided with this matter as much as everyone else has been. The school was put back into a pre-covid setup during the summer. Since the issue has really picked up in the last two weeks, FCS has been monitoring data, information from the health department, recommendations from those we have chosen to advise the school as well as the amount of cases in the community. We are also monitoring the number of cases that we have been made aware that are currently impacting our own FCS family. Out of an abundance of caution, we will begin the school year on code yellow. Code Yellow means face coverings at school when the student is up and out of the desk. When the student is up, the face covering is up. Code Yellow will begin on Wednesday. This code was how we ran the majority of last year. This move does not mean that we are staying on Code Yellow for the entire school year. Out of abundant caution, we are starting this way. We will weekly evaluate the status of which code that we should implement. It is our desire to move off of Code Yellow as quickly as feasible. Please remember we do not require face coverings for the Preschool through the Second Grade. Face coverings are not required during physical activity such as recess, PE and practices. Face coverings are necessary regardless of vaccination status.
We have spaced out desks to the best of our ability to encourage social distancing. FCS will continue to clean and disinfect just like we did last year. We are using four items that have been proven to kill Covid by disinfecting – Active Pure air purifiers in each classroom, Quat spray, Bioesque spray and O3waterworks sanitizing spray. FCS will be diligent to disinfect each day.
Middle and High school will change classes like in a normal school year. Teachers will clean desks when students change classes. We will attempt to do as much as possible to have a normal school year including sports, chapels, field trips and the normal events of the year.
I realize there are many different opinions and thoughts about the Covid situation. I personally have strong opinions on some of these matters related to Covid. We are choosing to set those aside so that FCS can have school. We ask that parents and students respect one another’s choices and opinions. We ask that parents and students support the school’s decisions. The goal of FCS is to provide Christian education in a safe environment for staff and students.
