The tragic events late last night in downtown Austin have brought heartbreak to our city and community. As President Davis said in his message to campus today, our prayers are with all those affected, and we urge anyone who might be struggling to seek help and assistance.
As new information becomes available and we continue to work with our police and medical partners to understand the full impact, I want to make sure we prioritize our students and their well-being. Some of our students may need flexibility with class attendance, deadlines, examinations, or other requirements as they navigate the effects of this weekend’s losses. I ask that you please show understanding and that you work with these students to reasonably and compassionately accommodate their requests.
