SAY SYA: Using Your Voice to Shape the Next Generation of Global Citizens
Not long after I began my role at SYA, my computer kept autocorrecting “SYA” into “say.” At first it was amusing, but over time it became my mantra: SAY SYA. Because if we want the world to understand the impact of this extraordinary program, we need to talk about it — clearly, loudly and often.
Do you work at or have a connection to a high school? Is SYA on your resume and LinkedIn profile?

Dreamers, Explorers and Changemakers
|
Meet this year’s student scholars — dreamers, explorers and changemakers whose SYA journeys are already unfolding. Each day, they discover new perspectives through the guidance of dedicated faculty, the embrace of host families and the support of curious classmates. These transformative experiences are made possible by the generosity of our donors, whose commitment opens the world to the next generation of global citizens.

| Congratulations, Zach Shiner
|
This year's recipient of the SYA France Class of 1974 Chair in Memory of Peter Greer and Charles Hamblet, Zach has already found creative ways to make algebra come alive. Students modeled linear functions by bungee-jumping Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper, using rubber bands to explore real-world math applications. Thankfully, no action figures were harmed in the process. (Zach also accepted a challenge to graph the SYA logo.)

Alumni Spotlight: Celia Aniskovich FR'09
A Journey of Courage, Transformation and Hope
|
“When I was 17, I scribbled a bucket list of 15 dreams onto a scrap of printer paper,” writes filmmaker Celia Aniskovich FR’09. “I folded it into a tiny square and have carried it with me ever since.” One of those dreams — to see her film streamed on an airplane — has just taken flight.
