What to Know About Upcoming Construction on Cascade Avenue |
Facilities Services is preparing to begin a project to install new high-temperature hot water (HTHW) piping along Cascade Avenue between Armstrong Hall and Worner Campus Center. This work will help maintain and improve campus infrastructure and will temporarily affect vehicle and pedestrian access in the area.
Materials and equipment will begin arriving the week of Oct. 12, with construction starting shortly thereafter. The project will take place in two phases, with different traffic and pedestrian impacts during each.
|
Phase 1: Armstrong Hall Area |
Construction will take place on the east side of Cascade Avenue near Armstrong Hall and will include excavation, utility vault construction, pipe installation, and restoration.
Pedestrian Access
|
-
The sidewalk on the north side of Armstrong Hall leading to Cascade Avenue will be closed.
- The sidewalk along Cascade Avenue within the construction area will also be closed.
- Access to Armstrong Hall entrances will remain accessible.
|
Traffic Impacts: Oct. 26-Dec. 1
|
- The northbound lane of Cascade Avenue will be closed from Uintah Street to Cache La Poudre Street.
- Northbound traffic will be detoured to Nevada Avenue.
|
Phase 2: Worner Campus Center Area |
Construction will shift to the west side of Cascade Avenue near Worner Campus Center.
Pedestrian Access
|
- Sidewalks closed during Phase 1 will reopen.
- A portion of the sidewalk adjacent to Cascade Avenue near Worner will be temporarily closed.
-
Access to Worner Campus Center will remain available, and an accessible pedestrian pathway will be maintained throughout construction.
|
Traffic Impacts: Dec. 2-Jan. 18, 2027
|
-
The southbound lane of Cascade Avenue will be closed between the West Campus parking lot entrance (north of Boettcher Hall) and Cache La Poudre Street.
- Southbound traffic will be detoured to Nevada Avenue.
|
West Campus Parking Lot Access
|
-
Vehicles will still be able to enter the West Campus Parking Lot.
- Vehicles exiting the lot will be routed to the Wood Avenue exit onto Uintah Street, east of 1140 Cascade Ave. This exit will be designated for outbound traffic only during the lane closure.
|
What to Expect During Construction |
Please plan for temporary traffic delays, sidewalk detours, and construction activity near Armstrong Hall and Worner Campus Center. Fencing will be in place around active work areas.
We understand that construction and temporary closures can be disruptive, and we appreciate your patience as we make these improvements. Facilities Services will share additional updates before each major traffic closure and as the project progresses.
For questions regarding the project, please contact Facilities Services at facilities@coloradocollege.edu.
