... the federal government re-opens; new PIs should set up agency credentials in advance.
The Federal Government has reopened, so federal granting agencies are ramping back up. Grant panel meetings in October and November that were missed up to this point will be rescheduled, typically starting in January. NSF, for one, provides more info and FAQs about its Resumption of Operations.
If you are a new PI or you are applying to a federal agency for the first time, you should register with the agency well in advance of any grant deadlines. The registration process varies across platforms, and in some cases you will need assistance from UNCG's Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).
PIs applying to NSF should Register in Research.gov and request your account be affiliated with UNCG or migrate your existing NSF account to affiliate with UNCG. Learn more.
PIs applying to NIH will need to be registered in the eraCommons, but PIs cannot create their own account. UNCG's OSP will create your account. Email them at research@uncg.edu to request an eraCommons account. Learn more.
For some proposals, such as those submitted via Grants.gov, the PI does not necessarily need an account. Other agencies may have different systems. Contact OSP or our office for assistance.
