Dear Colleagues-Friends,
In our continued efforts to better serve each of you, our leadership team at the UT Health Science Center is committed to understanding the needs and concerns of our faculty, staff, and students as together we enhance the learning and working experiences at all our campuses. To foster open communication, we will begin hosting "office hours" several times each month. We hope this new opportunity for us to meet one-on-one will be an additional valuable forum to share your thoughts, ideas, or concerns in a private setting.
Chancellor's Hours will be posted on the Chancellor's Hours website as well as on the Event Calendar. Meetings will be held on a first-come, first-served basis and will be treated with administrative confidence.
As we have assembled our leadership team in support of our statewide vision of Healthy Tennesseans. Thriving Communities., we have recently established three leadership groups at the UT Health Science Center:
-
Leadership Council (vice chancellors and deans)
- Chancellor's Cabinet (key administrative leaders alongside our vice chancellors and deans)
- University Council (Faculty Senate and Staff Senate representation alongside administrative leaders across all our campuses and the vice chancellors and deans)
In an effort to keep all of us informed of discussions held in those meetings, and to encourage transparency in our communications, we will be posting the minutes to these websites within 48 hours of each meeting. The minutes from the September 17 Leadership Council meeting are available to view at uthsc.edu/chancellor/leadership-council.php. Also, our UT Health Science Center Advisory Board meeting minutes are posted after each meeting and can be viewed at uthsc.edu/advisory-board/.
We have heard and welcomed valuable encouragement of our Staff Senate and Faculty Senate that we can – and should – be more transparent and we hope you will find these additional steps beneficial as we work to achieve the mission and vision of the UT Health Science Center.
On Friday, September 27, we are pleased to participate as a leadership panel in a town hall hosted on the UT Health Science Center's Memphis campus. Additional town halls are scheduled for each UT Health Science Center campus and we will also be hosting college-specific town halls in the coming weeks. Please see the Executive Leadership Hosts Town Hall Series email for the schedule and to post questions as you see fit.
We look forward to hearing from you in many ways as we enhance our communications toward becoming a more cohesive, engaged, and ever increasingly interactive "UT Health Science Center family." We also welcome your participation as we roll out the Chancellor's Hours. If you are unable to meet during Chancellor's Hours, "my door is always open" and I welcome you to email any thoughts, ideas, or concerns to me at chancellor@uthsc.edu or at any time when we meet at any of our campuses
With gratitude and respect,
Peter
