Mandatory Training Policy |
Per University System of Georgia (USG) policy, all mandatory training required by the Institution must be approved by Institution’s Chief Human Resources Officer (“CHRO”) and the Institution’s President. No Institution training may include affirmations, ideological tests, or oaths (including diversity statements).
Additionally individual units and departments are not permitted to mandate training for departmental employees beyond that approved by the Institution’s president and CHRO as outlined in the link below.

Supporting On-Site Expectations |
By now, your teams have transitioned to in-person work schedules. As President Cabrera shared in this week's Institute address, we recognize the shift may be a disruption for some people, but there is value in being present together on campus. Below are some supportive resources.
For supervisors meeting resistance, it's important to have open and honest discussions with your team members and document a plan together. The telework site now has resources to help you with that process, including a process to document temporary special circumstances.
We’re also sharing a presentation from our recent supervisor support sessions that shared useful information on special circumstances, change management, meeting talking points, and other resources tailored to supervisors.
Here is a reminder of upcoming deadlines:
|
- Supervisors who have begun progressive discipline with an employee should have the discipline plan resolved by Oct. 31.
- Employees who think they qualify for a special circumstance extension for onsite work must request a special circumstance extension and arrange a solution by Dec. 31.
|
In case you missed the supervisor support sessions, similar sessions for individual units can be organized by request. Please complete this form to describe your issue and schedule a unit-level session.

National Suicide Prevention Week |
National Suicide Prevention Week (NSPW) is Sept. 8-12, and Georgia Tech’s Center for Mental Health Care and Resources is ready with a week of events designed to support mental health and provide everyone in our community with the tools they need to help others:
|
-
Creating a Culture of Support: Suicide Prevention in the Workplace | Sept. 9 at 11 a.m., Virtual - By developing a better understanding of suicide, self-harm behaviors, and associated risk factors, this session for Georgia Tech faculty and staff demystifies these challenging topics and explores ways to tackle taboos.
- Peek Behind the Beak | Sept. 11 at 5 p.m., Cypress Theater (John Lewis Student Center) - Meet Freddie Falcon, the Atlanta Falcon's official mascot, as he takes off the costume to speak about his experiences with suicide and mental health.
-
Hope in Motion 5K | Sept. 12 at 7 a.m., Campus Recreation Center - This race is not just about the thrill of the finish line; it’s about supporting mental health and giving voice to those who are struggling with thoughts of suicide. The cost is $15, and all participants will get a free T-shirt.
