AUGUST 2023

FROM THE PARENT PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Welcome (or welcome back) to the Lipscomb Parent Program! We are happy to have our students back on campus! There is no better sound than the buzz of students connecting and reconnecting with friends on campus. Whether your student is in his or her first, or final year, at Lipscomb, adjusting to a new school year can be exciting and challenging.
As family members of a Lipscomb University student, you are our partner in supporting your student's educational experience. The parent engagement team will work hard to keep you in the loop.
Each month you'll receive this LUPP e-newsletter that contains important parent information from different departments on campus. LUPP's goal is to keep you informed and connected to what is happening on Lipscomb’s campus. Thank you for choosing Lipscomb to be part of your student’s journey.
Go Bisons!

Director of Parent Engagement

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR BISONS WEEKEND
NOVEMBER 9-11, 2023

Bisons Weekend is something you don’t want to miss! For those who are new to Lipscomb, Bisons Weekend is our version of a family weekend and homecoming joined together for an unbelievable experience packed full of fun.
Throughout the weekend, several events such as Lipscomb volleyball and basketball games, the Department of Theatre's performances of "Big Fish," Bison Square Fair, exhibits, reunions, a parade and two Bison Talk events are available for you to enjoy. Be sure to register for these "parent-specific" events: a lunch and learn, an athletes' parents reception and a pancake breakfast with President Candice McQueen. Registration opens soon, so watch your email to get all the details! We look forward to seeing you during Bisons Weekend.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Back-to-School Career Fair to be held Aug. 29
The Career Development Center offers help with resume writing, mock interviews, job searching and other aspects of career learning. This semester, the staff is excited to have a larger team with greater capacity to support students. Staff members will educate students about two helpful resources: Handshake, a platform where college students find internships and jobs, and Big Interview, where they can practice interviewing online and receive feedback. These are free to every student.
The office is hosting a Back-to-School Career Fair on Aug. 29 for students interested in part-time job opportunities. More job fairs are to come later in the semester. To keep up-to-date on what’s happening in the Career Development Center, follow them on Instagram @careerdev_lipscomb.
