Dear students,
We hope that the start of your semester is going well. As mentioned in our summer communication, we are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines and are treating COVID-19 as something more akin to other respiratory illnesses such as the flu. We are, however, monitoring the situation and will make any changes to our policy if recommended by public health officials.
Predictably, as students returned to school for the fall semester, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases nationwide, including in the Tulane community. In most of the cases that have been reported to us, individuals are experiencing mild flu-like symptoms.
If you test positive for COVID-19, you should:
- Isolate for five days, avoid unnecessary contact with others and wear a mask when you must be in group settings.
- Monitor your symptoms and get plenty of rest.
- Notify your professors of your status and work with each individual faculty member to make up any missed work.
We have prepared this guide for you that should answer any questions you have about navigating a COVID-19 diagnosis. As a reminder, Campus Health has a website for after-hours resources and support. If you believe you need the assistance of a case manager, you can always request one by completing the concerns report. We hope you have a healthy and successful fall semester.
