THAT “VOICE” IN YOUR HEAD -
THE ONE THAT LED TO YOUR SUCCESS
You go to the boat show. You see a boat you really like. You start getting excited. And then that voice in your head yells:
“STOP! WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING?”
There is a reason that voice is there. In fact, it may be one reason you have the money to buy the boat in the first place. Every time you had an idea to spend a lot of money over the years, that voice showed up. It made you stop. Think. Ask questions. Run the numbers. It protected you.
That was a pretty good voice to have while you were building your business and creating your wealth. But now you realize something else. Time is running out.
And if you are ever going to do some of the things you dreamed about doing for yourself, you had better start doing them. The problem is that you can't expect a voice you spent 40 or 50 years training to protect your money to suddenly disappear when you walk onto the right yacht.
So start working on it now. There are a lot of small steps you can take so that when you finally find the right boat for your vision, you aren't starting at square one.
Write out your vision. Put it on a piece of paper and leave it on your desk. Pull it out every few weeks and let it churn around in your head. Where are you going in your boat? Who is going with you? What kind of service do you want? What do you want your days aboard to look like?
Form your corporation. It doesn't cost much to get started, and you probably don't want a major asset and all its potential liability sitting casually in your personal name. And don't pick some cute, funny corporate name either. When the IRS agent is looking through your paperwork someday because you are writing it off, you don't want “Helen & Bob's Crazy Idea, Inc.” sitting at the top of the page!
Open a bank account in the company's name. When you finally pull the trigger, this will save time and get you started on the right foot.
Move some money. I know. This can be hard. Tell your brain the money didn't disappear. It just moved from one bank account to another. Put $10,000 in the new account. That's enough to make an initial deposit with an offer, and you won't be scrambling when the time comes.
Put the dream where you can see it. If you already know what kind of boat you think you want, get a great photograph of one, frame it, and put it on your desk at home. When you're working away, it will occasionally remind you:
The clock is ticking.
Do you know why I think it is so hard for many successful people to take that last step and actually buy a yacht? Because it is usually the most money they have ever spent on themselves.
It's more money than they had when they started their company. It's usually more than they paid for their home. It may be more than they have ever paid for anything. No wonder that voice is screaming.
Here's one more little trick.
Put the boat on your personal financial statement today - with a value of $0.00. Why? Because it reminds your subconscious that a yacht is a tangible asset. When you buy a yacht, your brain wants to tell you that all that money is gone. It isn't gone. It moved to a different column.
And if, after doing all of that, you still can't get past that voice in your head, put this old sign on your desk where you'll see it every morning:
“FLY FIRST CLASS. YOUR KIDS WILL.”

IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN ON A HARGRAVE LATELY…
If you haven't been on a Hargrave in many years, we have made a lot of changes we think you will enjoy seeing.
So this is your invitation to come see us at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, tour three of our latest designs, and learn about the new Hargrave Anemos Series we are launching.
I don't think anybody does a better job at 100 feet than Hargrave, and when you see the new 102' Hargrave SASSY at the show, I think you will understand why we are one of the top 20 brands in the highly competitive brokerage market.
SASSY also gives you something different to think about. The yacht is structured as a partnership, and while you're here we'll explain how it works, the advantages and disadvantages, and whether that type of ownership might make sense for you.
Then we have two larger Hargraves that make another point about who we are today.
The 118' Hargrave ROMEO FOXTROT II and the 125' Hargrave RESONANCE are relatively close in length - but that's about where the similarity stops. They represent two completely different design concepts.
You can see some of those differences in the listing photos below, but you have to walk through the yachts to appreciate what custom boat building really means. These aren't two production yachts with different-colored carpets and drapes.
They are two different owners' visions of what their ideal yacht should be. I think you'll enjoy seeing the difference.
And then we'd like to show you what's coming next.
You may have noticed some of the media attention surrounding the new advanced-style Hargrave Anemos Series we announced earlier this year.
One of the designs receiving a lot of attention was created by Tony Castro and his team in England. Castro Design has been involved in the creation of some very successful yacht designs over the years, and our collaboration gives a Hargrave owner another opportunity to start with a world-class design concept and then create something uniquely his or her own.
In other words, your own Hargrave masterpiece.
During the show, we'll be sitting down privately with clients who would like to understand the Anemos program—how the design process works, what the options are, and how you can make the yacht your own.
If you're coming to the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show and would like to learn more, let us know in advance, and we'll arrange a proper presentation while you're here.

IS THIS AGGRAVATING?
MAYBE IT’S JUST ME!

I saw this cartoon and had to laugh at how absurd things have become.
A robot computer asks you to prove that you are human before it will let you access your own account - or, in some cases, even continue reading an article online.
Somehow, I think we may have this backwards!

WHAT IS THE BEST DEAL ANYWAY?
Usually, people think this is just a low price but it's a combination of three things - the price, the condition, and an educated seller.
To be on our Best Deals Page the boat has to meet all three requirements.
