Meet Librarian Christina Bush |
Christina is the College's new research & instruction librarian supporting Black Studies, Educational Studies, and Psychology. Prior to joining the Swarthmore Libraries, Christina was a resident and critical pedagogy librarian at American University. She has a Ph.D. in African American Studies from UC Berkeley. She was also a postdoc in the Wolf Humanities Center at Penn. Christina is ecstatic to be back in Philly! She enjoys hiking, national parks, Black art, and is an aspiring birder. Flânerie and general itinerancy are also favorite pastimes (when her schedule permits). She is looking forward to connecting with the Swarthmore community in McCabe or at cbush1@swarthmore.edu!

CENSuality: Gender and Sexuality in
an Age of Censorship |
Now, more than ever, an increasing number of books are being banned throughout the U.S. Our exhibition, CENSuality: Gender and Sexuality in
an Age of Censorship, highlights books recently banned for representations of gender identity and sexuality orientation, dystopian texts that address this issue of censorship, news clippings on this issue, and integral printed materials that teach often-censored sex-ed topics.

Mary's Monsters: How Generations of Writers
Keep Shelley's Creation Alive |
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein's seminal work was the first to introduce an original character archetype: the sympathetic monster. Her work has inspired countless writers, many of whom appear in our exhibition, Mary's Monsters: How Generations of Writers Keep Shelley's Creation Alive. Each will challenge your understanding of what makes something human. Curated by Ava Lecky '27.
