April Teacher of the Month

Laura Hughes is a Pre-K teacher at Heronville Elementary, OKC Public Schools, where she has been named Teacher of the Year 4 times.  She has taught in Early Childhood Education for 25 years.  
Laura received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southeastern OSU, and a certification in Early Childhood Education from OCU
She is a lifelong learner, and hopes to instill the desire to learn in her students, and provides her students with a safe, nurturing and positive classroom environment which is conducive to learning. 
Laura's contributions to the community include membership in Kappa Kappa Iota Teacher Sorority, which is comprised of current and retired teachers that promotes educational support, and responds to children of abuse or neglect.  
Congratulations, Laura!  

Club 29 presents Charitable Contributions 

Recently, Rotary Club 29 presented charitable contributions to Positive Tomorrows, Homeless Alliance, Catholic Charities, Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, and the Mercy Health Foundation Okla. City.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards 

eRYLA will be virtual coast to coast this year.  Club 29 has sent students to Camp RYLA for years!  If you would like to know more about this virtual program, please watch this video from the RYLA director, Bridget Markwood

If you are interested in circulating the microphone for questions at the weekly in-person Tuesday luncheon meetings, please let us know by choosing a luncheon meeting date.

Rotary Peace Fellowships - 2022 Applications

Applications for the 2022 Rotary Peace Fellowship will open in February. Rotarians and local clubs are encouraged to promote the fellowship and share information with potential candidates. Information about the program and applicant qualifications is available.

Please contact Steve Shepelwich, District Rotary Peace Fellowship Subcommittee Chair, for more information on the fellowships and how to get involved.

Don't Wait to Nominate......The Time is NOW!

Membership is the life blood of Rotary Club 29.  The membership recruitment committee, co-chaired by Jane Jenkins and Janet Vernon, are giving all Club 29 Rotarians an incentive to nominate new members!  Starting February 8, 2021 for every nomination that converts into membership with entrance fee and dues paid, the lead sponsor will receive a $100 gift card from either a Good Egg or Hal Smith restaurant.
