Tulane University

Dear Student,

As you know, the university is closely watching winter storm Enzo. Please monitor alerts from the university and the Tulane Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response for the most up-to-date information about this storm. For those that live on campus, it is critical that you comply completely with the university personnel, including your Resident Advisor (RA) and Resident Director (RD).

Given the campus closure, the university is operating under emergency conditions, which will include implementation of a High Priority period. During High Priority times, our campus resources are focused on student safety and all members of our community are expected to do the same. Your strict adherence to the Code of Student Conduct is critical during these times. The high priority time is in effect from 6 a.m. today through 6 a.m. on Thursday, unless otherwise communicated.

Students are reminded to avoid creating behavior issues that require intervention from first responders, as it is crucial for EMS and emergency personnel to remain available to respond to genuine emergencies.

As a reminder, if you choose to engage in behavior that violates the Tulane Code of Student Conduct during any High Priority time, you should be aware that the consequences will be more severe. Your hearing will be expedited and you will face an additional charge for failing to comply. If you are found responsible for conduct violations, you will be placed on disciplinary probation, which may preclude you from:

  • hosting guests during Mardi Gras,
  • serving in a leadership position in a student organization,
  • participating in sorority or fraternity recruitment, or
  • studying abroad.

I know that for many of you, this severe weather may cause feelings of stress and/or anxiety. Please remember, there are services to support you. We have a confidential Counseling Phone Service called The Line that is available 24/7 and as always, you can reach the Student Affairs Professional On-Call at 504-920-9900 in the case of an emergency.

If you need emergency assistance during the storm or while the university has gone to hybrid operations, please contact the Tulane University Police Department at 504-865-5911.

Sincerely,

Erica Woodley
Dean of Students
