Retirement Reception for the Arnns
12:15 p.m. • Parlor

Sunday, we celebrate Sally Mae Arnn’s retirement as Music Assistant, including the administration of our Children’s Choirs, handbell director for Chiming Children, and Changing Gears (now Westminster Bells) for 35 years.

Sally Mae was in that position when I arrived as Director of Music Ministries 25 years ago. Sally Mae is one of the finest (and most fun) colleagues with whom I have ever had the privilege of working. She gave fully of herself to the nurture and care of both our children and adults during her tenure. I miss working with her every week, but I am glad she and John can enjoy retirement together.

Speaking of “John of Arnn” (as the music folk fondly call him), John has always been there supporting Sally Mae and all our choirs by composing arrangements for handbells, choral anthems for both adults and children, and musicals. He composed at least three musicals for our Summer Music Camps. They are the best musicals we’ve done.

It is impossible to thank Sally Mae & John adequately, but please join us for refreshments and a time to celebrate them with appreciation and love at a reception in the Parlor immediately following 11:00 a.m. worship, Sunday, November 9. It is especially fitting on this “Children’s Sabbath.” Sally Mae played a major role in these annual worship services for many, many years. Thanks be to God for the ministries of both Sally Mae & John at Westminster.

They are a treasure! And don’t worry! They aren’t leaving Westminster, simply retiring from a long and fruitful tenure on staff.

Gratefully,
John Semingson, Director of Music Ministries

Generosity 2026

At Westminster Presbyterian Church, we embrace Jesus' heartfelt call to "Let the children come unto me."  Your generosity reflects a commitment to providing resources and programs that support their growth, ensuring they feel valued and empowered. We believe that when we invest in our children, we are not only shaping their lives but also enriching the entire congregation. Together, we are building a foundation of faith that will
carry forward, as our children learn to embody Christ’s teachings of love, compassion, and service in their everyday lives. Our children show how God is doing “new things” for all.

Please support the ministry of our children through your pledge. Click the button below
to make your 2026 pledge or use the card and envelope in the pew and place in the
offering plate on Sunday.

"How Luther and Calvin Connected Worship and Faith
Formation—and the Musical Blessings That Continue to Flow
to Us."

Luther and Calvin experimented with new approaches to
many facets of church life, including both music and faith
formation practices. The Psalms played a huge role. Gifted
poets and composers produced songs still sung today.
Learning about these experiments may well give us new
music we will learn to love—and pray. It also may help us encourage poets and artists today who work in counter-cultural ways to strengthen faith and Christian witness through their craft.

nearly done pulling together the things that have fallen
apart.” Join us for a 7-part series where we make space
to wrestle with the things that fall apart and the One that
holds all things together. Leader: Ashley Higgins
