   STAY WARM, UNT!
We hope everyone is staying safe and warm during these weather conditions! Keep an eye on calendar.unt.edu to stay up to date regarding UNT event cancellations and postponements this week or contact event organizers for more details.
UNT announced all campuses will remain closed through Thursday, Feb. 2. UNT officials will continue monitoring the weather today to decide whether campuses will remain closed Friday. Should the university remain closed or delay opening, additional Eagle Alert messages will be issued.

Stay weather aware by continuing to monitor forecasts for changes in timing and impact.

Essential services, including police, facilities and housing, will continue to serve campus. Only Eagle Landing and Champs will be open during closure days, but watch Dining Services’ Inclement Weather schedule page for up-to-date hours. Learn more about additional campus services during the closure and how to prepare for severe weather. Follow Emergency Management and the National Weather Service on Twitter for regular updates.

   BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Happy Black History Month! This observance is celebrated annually in February to honor African Americans and their culture, history, and societal contributions. This year’s theme is “Black Resistance” — African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression to achieve accomplishments like the end of slavery, dismantling of Jim Crow segregation in the South, desegregation of educational institutions and many more. Celebrate the month with Dining Services from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday in February. Enjoy a variety of African recipes that trace the journey of two ingredients, greens and rice, from their African roots to contemporary Southern U.S. cuisine.

Due to the weather, week one’s celebration will be limited to Eagle Landing. The African-inspired dishes will be available Thursday at 11 a.m. while they last! Check out Dining Services’ hours of operations.

   STUDENT DIVERSITY ADVISORY COUNCIL
Are you a student who’s passionate about diversity and inclusion? Apply to be a member on the Student Diversity Advisory Council (SDAC). The newly-created SDAC is a standing university-wide council that will serve as a student advisory board for Diversity & Inclusion. The SDAC will gather student representatives from colleges across the university to assist with the implementation of diversity, campus climate, equity, and accountability policies and practices. This pilot council will include a one-year commitment in which students will establish the council’s founding documents and principles and provide feedback and recommendations related to improving inclusion on the campus. If you are interested, apply by Feb. 10!
