Kingdom Camels

Fellow Nazarenes are sharing the gospel in the heart of nomadic life in Africa.

Through Nazarene Missions Projects, six church-owned camels have been purchased, and two leaders from the herders’ sub-clan have been commissioned to journey alongside their people. By living, traveling, and working within their community, these leaders are able to share Christ in ways that are trusted, relational, and deeply contextual.

For the first time in our church’s history, nomadic camel herders are turning to the Lord through sustained gospel company rather than brief encounters. With the help of your giving, God's hope is being shared around campfires, along migration routes, and during daily work.

Those who once seemed unreachable are now being reached, and you are part of that story.

While this project, called Church on Camelback, is currently fully funded, the leadership team is working to expand this ministry to ten evangelistic teams! This growth will allow hope to travel even further, bringing discipleship to nomadic communities that have long lived beyond the reach of traditional church outreach.

Nazarene projects like this one offer a way to multiply World Evangelism Fund giving by inviting Nazarenes to be a part of pioneering, resourcing, and developing Nazarene efforts around the world.

These projects are part of the Care and Connect emphasis of Nazarene Missions International, allowing people to directly support missionaries in their daily ministry. Most projects are started and led by missionaries. In fact, many Links missionaries are connected to Nazarene Missions Projects.

A great reason to support a Nazarene Missions Project is that these projects are started and vetted through the Church of the Nazarene. And because they are part of our church structure, they work in partnership with the World Evangelism Fund. This is because the World Evangelism Fund provides the foundation that makes ministry possible.

Because of faithful giving to the World Evangelism Fund, 100% of project funds go directly to ministry costs—not overhead.

There are over three hundred different projects waiting for support, and four key ways to be part of the story. First, pray. Every project has specific prayer needs which are listed in the project description.

Second, share. Talking about projects is a powerful way to extend their impact and invite others into the story. Third, give. Whether through an individual gift or through your church or district, your giving helps projects meet their most urgent needs.

And fourth, go! Many projects have opportunities available through Nazarene Missions Teams, offering another way to directly connect. Remember that some of the projects that are not compatible with team visits, however, may have the most urgent needs and still need support.

From training young leaders to planting churches to purchasing camels…your giving through the Church of the Nazarene is impacting the world.

Thanks to Candy Truss and Nazarene Missions Projects for this story.
