The NCI Center for Cancer Research's Neuro-Oncology Branch (NOB) took a significant step on May 5 by inaugurating the Survivorship in Neuro-Oncology Visiting Scholar Lecture, featuring two distinguished guests, National Brain Tumor Society board member Adam Hayden and CERN Executive Director Kimberly Wallgren. This milestone event marks the commencement of NOB's Visiting Scholar Program, an initiative designed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange within the realm of neuro-oncology. The program invites esteemed experts from diverse specialties to engage in networking and deliver educational lectures.

Six Ways to Support the CERN Foundation

Supporting the CERN Foundation, a program of the National Brain Tumor Society, is now easier and more impactful than ever.
Here are six ways you can get involved right now:
  1. Make a gift. Donate directly to the Ependymoma Fund on the National Brain Tumor Society giving page.
  2. Create Your Own Event. You can create your own fundraising campaign or event to support the Ependymoma Fund for Research and Education and encourage others to donate by sharing your custom web page with your family and friends!
  3. Create a Facebook Fundraiser. Select National Brain Tumor Society as the nonprofit and include 'Ependymoma/CERN' in your fundraiser title. Telling your story and sharing it with family and friends is a powerful way to make a real difference.
  4. Attend a Signature Event. Attend a National Brain Tumor Society walk, ride, or race and make sure to ask NBTS staff to designate your team for the Ependymoma Fund.
  5. Join the NBTS Gray Nation Endurance® Program. Apply for one of NBTS’s charity teams or select a race or endurance activity of your choice to celebrate a survivor, pay tribute to a loved one, or make an overall difference in the fight against brain tumors.
  6. Double your impact. You can increase the impact of your generous donation by asking your employer to match your gift dedicated to the Ependymoma Fund.
With your support, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the CERN Foundation: a commitment to enhancing the care and outcomes of individuals with ependymoma through community backing and dedicated research endeavors.

The CERN Foundation and the National Brain Tumor Society have joined forces to help people with ependymoma and advance ependymoma research toward the development of new and better treatments through the creation of the Ependymoma Fund for Research and Education. Today, the CERN Foundation is officially a designated program of the National Brain Tumor Society. Donations to the Ependymoma Fund for Research and Education will be made on the NBTS website and used to support research efforts that will benefit both ependymoma patients and research through CERN. Emphasis will be placed on CERN’s historical model of supporting work that translates basic science into clinical practice. The Fund will also address overcoming barriers to clinical trial accrual and the development of new clinical studies for ependymoma patients. Additional funds will be used to support educational efforts through print, media, and awareness events. The new collaborative Ependymoma Fund will continue CERN’s practice and tradition of involving and collaborating with other scientists, medical providers, foundations and supporters of ependymoma research.
