MavGrad Celebration is a fun and family-friendly event today, May 11, 6-9 p.m., where UTA’s graduating students can celebrate with their peers, friends, and family. This free event will feature food, drinks, a drone show, music by The Inspiration Band, photo opportunities, and festive activities.

UTA alumnus Kelcy Warren, executive chairman and chairman of the Board of Directors of Energy Transfer LP, has made a $12 million gift to help elevate UTA to the forefront of the growing resource and energy engineering field.

UTA has received a $12 million gift from alumnus Kelcy Warren, its largest donation ever, Fort Worth Report and Dallas Innovates reported. The funding will support UTA's resource and energy engineering teaching and research.

New flooring, new equipment, and other upgrades will be installed in the Maverick Activities Center fitness center and weight area May 13-July 9. During that time, the fitness area will be closed. Read more about the renovation.

| Mitchell Street construction
|
Monday, May 15, crews will begin construction on Mitchell Street. Between Cooper St. and Davis St., one lane will be closed for gutter and curb repairs. This is the beginning of a multi-phase street resurfacing project between Mary St. and Davis St.

| MavWire moves to Thursday distribution
|
May 15 through August 11, MavWire, UTA's internal newsletter to employees, will be distributed weekly on Thursdays. To submit an item, email mavwire@exchange.uta.edu.

Hot weather can cause serious health problems, including headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, and even death. The UTA Office of Environmental Health and Safety wants you to be aware of the dangers and know what can be done to lower the risks for heat-related illness. Watch for signs of heat illness and act quickly.
Symptoms include:
- headache or nausea
- weakness, dizziness
- heavy sweating or hot, dry skin

elevated body temperature
- thirst
- decreased urine output
To avoid heat illness, drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, and take breaks from the outdoor heat.

Fill out the Blazing Race registration form to enter your team of two to six people. The first 125 people to register will receive a Blazing Race T-shirt. Password Management Survey

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is reviewing the password-management needs of the campus and what employees are currently using to meet that need. Complete the Password Management Survey by Friday, May 19. OIT will review the feedback from the survey to determine next steps.

The Office of Information Technology is updating UTA’s network infrastructure across campus. The project involves building-by-building activity after regular business hours. To view when your building is impacted, visit the project website, which will be updated as the project progresses.
