UTA was recently designated a top 10 Military Spouse-Friendly institution, after being named a top 10 Military-Friendly© university earlier this year. In addition, the Texas Veterans Commission awarded UTA with a Gold Veterans Education Recognition Award for its excellence in providing education and other services to its military-connected community.

Mavericks make a difference
|
On a recent Super Service Saturday, Mavericks spent a day serving the community by volunteering at nine locations throughout Arlington. Super Service Saturday, UTA’s annual day of community service, introduces new and returning Mavericks to different ways in which they can help the city of Arlington and its residents.

UTA Police hosts National Night Out today, Tuesday, Oct. 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Brazos Park. National Night Out is an event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. There will be free food, entertainment, games, and door prizes for guests.

Professional Skills Academy

The Professional Skills Academy (PSA) is a chance to learn more about the career competencies expected by today's employers, such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and more. Attend four seminars during the month of October and earn your PSA certificate. Apply by today, Tuesday, Oct. 3.

| Show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Those who wear pink are invited to stop by the Office of Health Promotion table on the University Center mall 12-2 p.m. to receive a prize.

Are you interested in representing the student body? There’s no better way than to run for a student-elected office. Positions include homecoming king and queen, student government senators, UTA ambassadors, and student service fee allocation committee representatives. Elections are Oct. 23-24.
